WELL, WELL WELL
RESTORING RUNNING WATER WAS JOB ONE
Over a three-week period in late August and early September 2017, we started and completed our work for a single woman in Cary who had lived in her home for 70 years. Over the years, she had opened her home to many of her extended family members, and her bathroom and kitchen were in great need of complete renovation. Before essential remodeling could begin, we hired a well service company to install a new in-well pump to restore running water throughout the home. The home owner was having to carry buckets of water from the basement to wash dishes, wash clothes and to flush the toilet.
WHAT OUR VOLUNTEERS ACCOMPLISHED
Working on weekends and a few weekdays, our volunteers demolished the old bathroom and kitchen and rebuilt and equipped both as new. After installing new kitchen flooring, cabinets, counter tops, and sink we went the extra distance and replaced the refrigerator, range hood, and storm door. Bathroom repairs included a new tub and shower surround, vanity with medicine cabinet and mirror, and grab bars for the toilet and bathtub. In total, our volunteers devoted 250 hours to complete this essential project.
